REPORT DATE: May 21 2010
WEEKLY REPORT NOW ON A FORTNIGHTLY BASIS – just for the winter period.
WELLINGTON - Hutt River & tributaries/ Wainuiomata River
The area has received some recent rain which has bumped the flow up a bit. Fishing may be marginal in the Wellington at present, the weather forecast over the next few days is predicting showers with a few fine spells. The Southerly winds are meant be dying out over the weekend. Next week looks like a wet one.
KAPITI COAST - Waikanae, Otaki, Ohau rivers
The three rivers in this area are likely to be marginal at present but should be fishable according to the flow graphs. The met service is predicting scattered showers with a few fine spells. From early next week rain is expected.
MANAWATU - Manawatu River & tributaries/ including Mangatainoka, Pohangina, Oroua rivers
The Manawatu area seems to be the least affected by the recent rain, however the weather prediction isn’t too flash for the next few days. Most of the rivers appear fishable at present, and may be ok until later in the weekend. Not likely to stay this way for long though, rain is predicted for most of today clearing over the weekend but rain again early next week.
RANGITIKEI - Rangitikei River & tributaries/ including Hautapu and Kauwhata rivers
The Rangitikei and tributaries appear to be at a fishable level, the flow hasn’t changed much with the recent rain events in the area, showers expected today and clearing later in the weekend.
WAIRARAPA - Ruamahanga River & tributaries/ including Waiohine, Waipoua, and Kopuaranga rivers
The Wairarapa area has had some recent rain and most rivers are likely to be dirty at present and wont clear over the coming weekend. Weather is predicted to be mainly wet and so stay indoors.
An important notice is that Duck shooting is now underway, so if you do brave the conditions and go out on the river, take extra care as there is the possibility that hunters could be using the river as well. Keep safe everyone!!!!
Thanks again, and good fishing to all, maybe not this weekend.
